Self-marketing

I still remember about 4 years ago, I attended a even in Taipei called “Pecha Kucha.” The word is originally derived from Japanese ペチャクチャ. It means chitchat in English. This event was created by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham in 2003. Their intention was creating a stage for young designers to show and communicate their works with other people. Since then, this event is getting popular and has been hold in more than 60 cities. The only rule for participants is the 20x20 talk. Anyone can show 20 slides with 20 seconds for each slide, that’s less than 7 minutes.

Andy Warhol said, “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” We all know that anyone can be world famous more than 15 minutes on the Internet. But the purpose of this Pechakucha event is self-marketing. Nowadays, everything is so competitive, from getting into a good university to getting a good job. That’s why we all need to create extra values on ourselves. Let’s see and be seen.
